VAT Analyst

We are seeking a highly motivated VAT Analyst to support VAT, excise tax, and other indirect tax compliance and advisory functions in the UAE.

Ideally, we are searching for a candidate who has 3-4 years of experience, preferably in a Big 4 firm, with expertise in VAT compliance, tax audits, and regulatory reporting. This role involves ensuring tax compliance, optimizing tax processes, and providing strategic insights on indirect tax matters.

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities:

VAT Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation, review, and filing of VAT and excise tax returns in accordance with UAE tax laws.

  • Ensure timely and accurate tax submissions to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).

  • Perform VAT reconciliations, validate input/output VAT, and maintain tax records.

  • Support tax audits, assessments, and responses to FTA inquiries.

Tax Advisory & Risk Management

  • Monitor UAE VAT and excise tax regulations and assess their impact on business operations.

  • Provide guidance on VAT treatment of transactions, exemptions, and Free Zone tax implications.

  • Assist in evaluating business contracts for VAT implications and ensuring compliance with local laws.

  • Support internal teams with tax planning, structuring, and risk mitigation strategies.

Process Optimization & System Improvements

  • Assist in automating VAT reporting and enhancing ERP tax configurations.

  • Work closely with finance and IT teams to ensure accurate tax coding and reporting.

  • Identify efficiencies in indirect tax processes and recommend improvements.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with finance, procurement, and legal teams to ensure tax compliance across business units.

  • Conduct tax training sessions for internal stakeholders to improve VAT awareness.

  • Coordinate with external consultants and tax advisors for complex tax matters.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation.

  • CA / CPA qualification preferred.

  • 3-4 years of indirect tax experience, preferably in a Big 4 firm.

  • Strong understanding of UAE VAT laws, excise tax regulations, and FTA guidelines.

  • Experience in VAT reporting, reconciliations, and tax audits.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and tax compliance software.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
